Pre-cleaning is the first and key stage of grain processing. It reduces the load on dryers, improves storage quality, and minimizes the risks of self-heating, mold, and crop losses.
After harvesting, grain contains straw, dust, broken particles, weed seeds, and light organic impurities. Without removing them, the moisture level of the grain mass increases, ventilation worsens, and the risk of fungal growth rises. Pre-cleaning removes large and light impurities already at the intake stage. This makes it possible to reduce contamination to a safe level before drying or storing in a silo.
The result is stable equipment operation, lower energy consumption for drying, and preservation of the product's marketable characteristics.
Cleaning before drying reduces fuel and electricity consumption because only the useful fraction is dried. This directly affects processing costs. Removing light impurities improves air circulation in the grain mass, reduces the risk of self-heating hotspots, and extends the safe storage period.
In addition, pre-cleaning improves grain grade, simplifies further calibration, and helps achieve a higher selling price.
